The term "prostatitis" refers to a chronic or acute inflammatory process of any etiology occurring in the prostate. Because the prostate is an exclusively male organ, prostatitis develops only in men. There are many types of prostatitis, but each type of prostatitis can be divided into acute and chronic.
Acute prostatitis occurs under the influence of many factors - the presence of bacteria, viruses, protozoa, under the influence of malnutrition, sedentary lifestyle, bad habits and others. >
The prostate is a gland of external secretion, ie the secret that it produces enters the external environment. In humans, the prostate is an unpaired organ whose activity depends on male sex hormones, especially androgens and steroid hormones.
The prostate is located behind the bladder, encompassing the initial part of the urethra into which its channels open.
Precisely because of its location, the prostate owes one of its functions - it blocks the exit from the bladder during an erection. The feeling of orgasm is due to the prostate, which happens due to the abundant supply of the gland with nerves, ie innervation.
Temperature
One of the first signs of acute prostatitis, regardless of the causes of its occurrence, is a rise in temperature. As with any other inflammatory process that occurs in the body, the temperature rises to subfebrile figures - that is, about 37, 5-380OD.
Moreover, the more intense the immune response, ie the response of the organism, the higher the temperature. That is, at the peak of the disease, the body temperature can rise up to forty degrees.
Of course, a rise in temperature alone cannot indicate the onset of prostatitis.
Usually, the first symptoms of prostatitis are difficulty urinating with the use of additional muscles - abdominal muscles, violation of the mechanism of ejaculation, itching, burning and other unpleasant phenomena in the perineum or genitals.
Frequent visits to the toilet
Also, there is an increased urge to urinate (with a small amount of urine being released), a feeling of "residual urine" after emptying the bladder, an uncomfortable orgasm and, as a result, a decrease in libido.
General weakness
As with any other inflammatory disease, there is an intoxication syndrome, which includes general weakness, decreased efficiency, nausea, and possible vomiting.
There is also a disorder of the nervous system - depression, irritability, etc.
What causes prostatitis
There are also predisposing factors for prostatitis - hormonal imbalance, including age, prolonged sexual abstinence, smoking, general hypothermia, stool retention, sedentary lifestyle, lack of physical activity, overheating, history of chronic sciatica, immunodeficiency conditions, age-related changes in the body.
It is worth paying special attention to such a predisposing factor as inflammatory diseases of the kidneys and urinary tract, because the infection can spread upwards.
It happens that the disease begins with urethritis
The initial stage of prostatitis is characterized by a fairly typical clinical picture - lethargy of urine, frequent urge to urinate, fever. Possible pain in the perineum. Violation of sexual function often occurs.
However, sexual dysfunction is more of a psychological aspect, a physiological or clinical week. The process of ejaculation itself either does not bring pleasure at all, or even causes pain, to which a conditioned reflex develops, leading to a decrease in libido.
Purely physiologically, prostatitis can lead to a lack of potency only at a late stage. The initial phase is also called the "first signs" phase - the onset of urination does not happen immediately, as usual, but with a small delay.
Already at this stage, the prostate is enlarged, but it is still painless on palpation. At the same time, the borders of the prostate are well palpated, and the middle sulcus is palpated - as in the norm. The most interesting thing is that the phase of the first signs can last quite a long time - up to three years.
In recent years, urologists have increasingly become young people. That is, inflammation of the prostate "spring". This is due to the development of "unheard of" recreation - surfing, diving, skiing and kayaking. With inadequate loads and complete hypothermia of the body, prostatitis can occur.
And, paradoxically, an overly "quiet" lifestyle can also predispose to the development of prostatitis. This is due to the stagnation of blood and lymph in the pelvis - a sedentary and sedentary lifestyle is not the best way to disperse blood in the organs.
Predisposing factors for prostatitis are also insufficiently cured inflammatory diseases, which may not be related to the pelvic organs at all. This is due to the fact that infection (of any etiology) from the primary focus can penetrate hematogenously or lymphogenously into the prostate. In the presence of congestion in the pelvis, the infection settles there and begins to multiply.
It also happens that prostatitis occurs due to stress. Stress weakens the immune system, increasing the risk of prostatitis.
Sexually transmitted diseases - "sexually transmitted diseases" - one of the main causes of inflammation of the prostate. Gonorrhea, if not treated properly, almost always causes prostatitis.
However, do not forget that you cannot go from one extreme to another. With prolonged sexual abstinence, blood and lymph stagnation is re-created in the pelvic organs, the secretion stagnates in the prostate, leading to prostatitis.
The prognosis for timely detection and adequate treatment of this disease is favorable, however, if the disease is left to chance, chronicity or the addition of a secondary infection is possible, which will lead to rather sad consequences.
